Every breastfeeding mama knows how it goes—the second you sit down to eat, Baby decides they want to eat too. That's exactly what happened to New Zealand mom Briar Lusia Mcqueen when she attempted to eat breakfast alone at a restaurant with her 8-week-old son Jaxon. Just as she was resigning herself to eating her food with one hand, a stranger swooped in to the rescue.
When the stranger first started approaching her, Mcqueen shares in a Facebook post that's quickly gone viral, "I was scared, thinking she was gonna tell me to put my boob away." But instead, this woman performed a small act of kindness that continues to stun the new mom and the internet alike—she started cutting up her breakfast into bite-size pieces for her.
According to Mcqueen, the woman explained, "[W]hat a good mama you are, we can't have your food getting cold, can we?" Mcqueen later shared with US Weekly, "I’ve read so many negative stories about women breastfeeding in public. I was afraid that it would happen to me too, because I don’t cover him while I’m feeding him.”
And the first-time mom's reaction? "I honestly could have cried. Loveliest lady EVER!"
We couldn't agree more.
