It's a struggle that parents everywhere can relate to. Mom goes back to work—or just wants to go out for a few hours without her baby—but Baby refuses to drink milk from a bottle, leaving both Mom—and her partner—in tears.
That's exactly what happened when Florida dad Chris Allen's fiancée went back to work. The couple's daughter, Destiny, had only been breastfed up to that point and the transition from having Mom feed her to Dad wasn't easy. So what's a dad to do when his baby is refusing the bottle? In Allen's case, come up with a completely genius solution and film it for all the world to see.
Allen cleverly thought that while he couldn't actually breastfeed his daughter, he could try to make the bottle-feeding experience as close to the real thing as possible. So the dad-of-three cut a tiny hole out of his shirt near where his nipple would be, and pushed the bottle nipple through the hole. The rest is baby-feeding magic.
Allen share his selfie video with the Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk and the internet went crazy. The video has over 5.7 million views and counting so far.
Breastfeeding Mama Talk page founder Kristy Kemp tells Today that she thinks the video resonated so strongly with so many parents was "because bottle refusal is such a common occurrence (in breastfed babies), so the fact that he went the extra mile to get his baby to drink from the bottle was awesome."
Now who wants to bet there will be a lot more dads trying out this breastfeeding "hack" soon?
