One single mom was determined to help her kid feel included at school events—and she did so in the most creative way.
When Yevette Vasquez from Forth Worth, Texas, was dropping off her son Elijah at school, she noticed a greater number of cars than usual and asked Elijah what was happening.
Turns out, the school was hosting a "Doughnuts with Dad" breakfast. Yevette made a quick decision and turned the car around because she didn't want Elijah to miss out.
She returned wearing a fake mustache, baseball cap and plaid shirt, attending the event as Elijah's "dad."
"I know seeing other dads with (their) kids isn't easy ... at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face," Vasquez wrote on her Facebook page. She also posted photos of her as "dad" and Elijah during the breakfast, which has been shared more than 6,500 times and racked up more than 20,000 reactions.
Since posting her decision on Facebook, Vasquez says she has received messages and interviews from all over the world. "This is one AMAZING time in our lives and we greatly appreciate all the LOVE!" she wrote.
Single moms do incredible things every day. We're so glad Vasquez got the love and praise she so deserves!
