Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Are Married!

Each milestone Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have marked together—from the beginning of their relationship to Eva's pregnancies and the births of their two daughters—were done quietly. So it should be no surprise that the pair also chose to keep their wedding a secret.

(We know. Go ahead and take a minute, ladies.)

Us Weekly reports Ryan, 35, and Eva, 42, said "I do" sometime in 2016 before an intimate group of friends and family.

And while the notion of Ryan Gosling being off the market may be difficult for those who always dreamed he'd someday gift her with a "hey, girl" and that winning smile, the good news is he's just as adorable about being a husband and father as he was about being the (imaginary) man of your dreams.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, the actor happily told Us he's "a lucky man" when asked about his actress wife, whom he fell for on the set of "The Place Beyond the Pines," and their ankle-biters, Esmeralda, 2, and 4-month-old Amada.

"We couldn't be happier," he said. "They are so sweet."

He won't let anyone mess with that sweetness, either. During an appearance on "Ellen" this spring, Ryan shared a story about his approach to protecting Esmeralda from the playground equivalent of the graffiti world's "Grey Ghost."

"I take my little girl to the park, and we always write her name in chalk, and some kid has been erasing her name and writing their name over it," he explained.

"And this kid has access to an unfair amount of chalk. My little girl doesn't care; she's like, 'Well, let's just chalk anywhere else.' And I'm like, 'No! They're disrespecting your mother because she gave you this name, and they're erasing it. So the only way to really get back at them is to erase their name. And not disrespect their mother, but definitely put her on notice.'"

You tell 'em, Ryan.

As for their new marriage, sounds like things are business—er, romance—as usual chez Gosling-Mendes.

"Eva and Ryan have always felt like a married couple," an insider tells Us. "They are infatuated with each other."
