Toddler Strangled by Teething Necklace at Daycare

When Danielle Morin dropped off her 18-month-old son Deacon off at daycare, she never expected to show up to pick him up later in the day and find paramedics trying to revive him. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and tragically, little Deacon was taken off life support five days later.

Little Impressions Daycare in Fontana, Calif., told his mother that he had been strangled by his amber teething necklace while napping, but according to KABC, Morin feels like there is something that the daycare is leaving out. The heartbroken mother wants more details—particularly on who initially performed CPR on her son—and wants the daycare shut down.

A California Department of Social Services spokesperson confirms that they are currently in the process of investigating Deacon's death. The facility was cited multiple times in 2015 and placed on probation for three years.

Morin, a single mom, is currently in the process of donating Deacon's organs "so another family's prayers can be answered."

A GoFundMe page has been started to help pay for Deacon's medical and funeral expenses, with $30,000 of the $50,000 goal raised so far.
