Eva Amurri Martino is not one to hold off on a baby announcement! The actress, who is the daughter of Susan Sarandon, announced in her newsletter this week that she and husband Kyle Martino welcomed their second child on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
"It is with so much gratitude and joy that Kyle, Marlowe and I announce the arrival of our sweet boy, Major James Martino," she wrote. "Born safely and swiftly at home today, October 19th, at 1:44 pm. 8 lbs, 3 oz and 22 inches long! Our hearts are bursting. Our family is complete. Thank you so much for all of your love and support."
She even posted a one-day-old shot to Instagram on Thursday to let fans know she's working on writing his birth story.
Amurri announced the pregnancy on her blog, Happily Eva After, in April 2016. After sharing her 2015 miscarriage on her blog, she continued sharing thoughts about miscarriage and pregnancy with a rainbow baby (the term to describe a baby conceived after a pregnancy loss). She said she shared the intimate and devastating news of her miscarriage "in the hopes that we can be a light for people going through similar circumstances," and to remind others there's no shame in sharing the news and asking for support to get through it.
In fact, the support she received from sharing her story was overwhelming.
"If motherhood has taught me anything, it's how to ask for help," she told People magazine in 2015. "And now, I find so much strength in vulnerability."
Like with her daughter, Marlowe Mae, who was born in August 2014, Major James Martino was born at home. Amurri shared her home birth plan on her blog in September, including a tasty recipe for "laborade," a homemade electrolyte drink to help stay hydrated during labor.
Welcome to the world, Major James!
We can't wait to see more of him all over Eva's gorgeous Instagram account soon.
