Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter, Maddie Aldridge, is reportedly in "extremely serious" condition after an ATV accident on Sunday, according to TMZ.
The 8-year-old girl had been riding an off-road vehicle on her family's Louisiana property and veered into a pond while trying to avoid a drainage ditch. "The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes," according to a police report obtained by People magazine, referring to Jamie Lynn and her husband, Jamie Watson.
"Within seconds the child's mother, stepfather and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail," the report continues. "The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV's safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters."
Maddie was then taken to a nearby hospital.
Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn's older sister, tweeted out a photo of Maddie with the message: "Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece."
"All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie," Jamie Spears, Jamie Lynn's father, told Entertainment Tonight.
Jamie Lynn gave birth to Maddie in 2008 after discovering she was pregnant while filming TV show "Zoey 101." Then 16, she returned to her home state of Louisiana to raise her daughter with ex-boyfriend (and Maddie's father) Casey Aldridge. She has since married Watson.
