So, she belly-dances better than we do. She sings better than we do. She has better hair than we do. Is Shakira even better at being a chill parent than the rest of us moms? Could be: She recently said that she finds motherhood "relaxing." (!!!)
The singer, who's built on her own recording success by serving as a judge on The Voice, became a first-time parent at the start of this year, to son Milan (dad is Gerard Piqué, a Spanish football star). Of course, she's faced the same challenges as off us us moms do, like figuring out how to balance motherhood and the demands of her career, she says (just two months after she delivered, she had to return to The Voice, for starters). She's copped to some other surprises too: "[Motherhood is] not as idyllic as everyone tells you," she recently confessed to In Touch magazine during an interview. "You wonder if you're ever going to be your old self again or get your body back. And nobody told me babies needed to be changed so often."
But, she added, the biggest surprise was how she's risen to the occasion. "Everybody thought I was going to be one of those hysterical mothers—a smothering mother. Even I thought I was going to be super controlling, because I'm like that with my songs and my career. I like to be in charge. But with Milan, I'm so relaxed."
And yes, in case you're wondering, she's even nursing, telling In Touch it's been one of the most amazing experiences she's ever had.
