In case the men in your life haven’t told you this again and again, Kristen Bell is way hot (“Oh, oh yeah, and … uh … so are you, honey.” Sigh.) And she’s determined to keep it that way. During last night’s CMT awards, Bell rocked not one, but four smokin’ outfits—despite having given birth just nine weeks ago. [She’s now mom to a daughter, Lincoln; dad is actor Dax Shepard]. Bell’s stylist Nicole Chavez, who also works with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rachel Bilson, gave Entertainment Weekly the insider info on how they pulled it off.

For starters, she says, she and Bell stayed sensitive to Nashville’s tastes and fashion trends: “There’s a real glam element,” Chavez notes. Which gave them plenty of permission to go for the bling: Bell’s ensembles consisted of a laser-cut dress by Zuhair Murad, a gold cocktail number from Monique Lhuillier, a slinky number from Cushnie et Ochs, and, from Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, a short and sweet shift dress with a twinkle.

Of course, even the most beautiful dresses don’t work for everyone. Chavez notes she paid close attention to each selection’s fit on Bell’s new mom bod. “She’s a little curvier now. It’s a different body type, but it’s fun to dress,” Chavez explained.

Fun—but a lot of work, too. Bell’s backstage quick-changes were carefully orchestrated and required a whole pit crew on hand, Chavez reveals. The House of Lies star “had 10 minutes to change between each look, if that. There was a glam squad backstage with hair and makeup, and we all worked as a team. I’d start getting her out of the dress first, so they could take her hair down. The girl who did her makeup was helping me take her shoes off while I was undressing her.” Don’t you wish you had a posse like that ready to help you every morning?
