Hottest Husbands in America Winners

Most loving wives think their husband is cute (or at least was when they first met—why else are they together?). Only hot? Those are a rarer breed.

Nonetheless, over 1,500 women across the U.S. nominated their spouse as “hottest husband” in a recent contest by NBC and iVillage. From there, over 150,000 iVillage users whittled down the contestants to their final picks.

Eric Mehl, a 29-year-old aquatics manager in Indianapolis, was one of the lucky winners. Specifically, he was dubbed “hottest tattooed dad” thanks to his body art, which includes the couple's 5-year-old son Wesley’s name written in Kryptonian, the language from Superman’s home planet. "I love comic books," he told Indystar.com. "And that's obviously something I want to share with him as he grows up."

Mehl was nominated by his wife, Julia, who was not surprised he won. But she didn’t nominate her husband based on a pretty face alone. "Really he works really hard for our family so I can be a stay-at-home mom for our son," said Julia, who was his high school sweetheart and has been married to him for eight years. "He deserves to be recognized for all of the amazing things he brings to our lives."

Mehl’s prize? A $100 American Express gift card and a certificate naming him “Hottest Tattooed Dad.”

The other winners were “hottest military dad” (Andrew Ungaro of Portsmouth, Va.); “newbie dad” (Brendan and Alex Gibson of Los Gatos, Calif.); “fireman/policeman dad” (Jeff Shelton of Van Nuys, Calif.); “single dad” (Michael—no last name given—of Columbia, Mo.); “dad with facial hair” (Andrew Kennedy of Indialantic, Fla.); “dad in his 20s” (Deon Libby of Miami, Fla.), 30s (David Emanuel of San Francisco) and over 40 (Harry Farthing of Mount Pleasant, S.C.).
