NSFW: 'Vogue Netherlands' Features Revealing Breast-Feeding Photo

Breastfeeding Vogue image has people talking

Sound the alarms! A controversial new breast-feeding pic is busily shocking the Internet! Err ... well, sort of.

The October 2013 issue of Vogue Netherlands certainly is causing a stir for its bold image of model Ymre Stiekema ... who is very much topless while nursing a baby. (She's also wearing some sort of Flying Nun-looking headdress? We're not quite sure what's going on there.) But we're not sure it's setting tongues wagging in the ways we've seen before.

The spread, which was shot by photographer Erwin Olaf, is titled "The Master & the Girl," and shows Stiekema in various states of odd dress (there's a futuristic headset, a knit hat gone terribly wrong), all the while styled as though she were a figure in a classic painting.

As a result, the breast-feeding photo is getting more notoriety for its artistic flare—much like the Angelina Jolie breast-feeding cover W mag unveiled back in 2008—than its shock value. All this, it must be noted, in stark contrast to that infamous "Are You Mom Enough?" TIME cover from last year, which sparked a mommy war heard 'round the world...

How come? We're sure it has something to do with the photograph's obvious artistic merits, and the fact that it's not accompanied by an article on the whole debate-sparking breast-feeding controversy. (Oh, and maybe the fact that it's a baby and not a smirking toddler on the other end of that boob—let's be honest.) Or maybe, just maybe, everyone's calming down about the whole public breast-feeding thing?

Either way, so far it's been called everything from fearless to bizarre to downright gorgeous.

What do you think of the image?
