Krim Family Welcomes Baby Boy a Year After Brutal Nanny Murders

Krim family welcomes a new baby

It was just a year ago this month that New York City mother Marina Krim returned to her Upper West Side apartment to discover a grisly murder scene: her two young children, Lulu and Leo, had been savagely murdered in the bathtub by their nanny, Yoselyn Ortega.

The story made headlines across the country, and was all too heartbreaking to believe; but a million times more heartbreaking to live.

And yet, with time and support, the Krims have managed to pick up the pieces. On Friday, October 11, the two parents, along with their surviving daughter, 5-year-old Nessie, welcomed baby Felix into the world.

The announcement came on the Facebook page the Krims set up for the Lulu & Leo Fund, which honors both their children and aims to raise money for children's education and enrichment programs.

"We are very excited to share with you that Felix Harrison Krim, all 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and 21.5 inches of him, arrived today," the message read. "Marina, Felix and all of us are healthy and happy."

According to the Krims, it was their daughter Nessie who has kept them going this last year; and she couldn't be more excited about her new baby brother.

"We are filled with many emotions as we look to the future, but the most important one is hope. We are very grateful to you all for your amazing support,” the Krims wrote on Facebook in May.

Meanwhile, Yoselyn Ortega has pled not guilty to the charges of murdering both Lulu and Leo, despite being found next to their bodies and with overwhelming evidence to the contrary. She was hospitalized for weeks with self-inflicted stab wounds that were caused after she allegedly killed the children. Though the court has declared her mentally fit for trial, her lawyer is challenging that ruling.
