Braxton-Hicks contractions are simply contractions that are not sufficient to cause change to the cervix. If your pregnancy is not yet full term, typically it is worthwhile to notify your healthcare provider if you notice four or more contractions in one hour that persist after resting, advises Houston-based OB-GYN Pamela Berens, of the University of Texas Medical School. "Staying well hydrated may be helpful, as can relaxation techniques like taking a warm bath," Berens suggests.
