Should I Avoid Carrying Heavy Objects While Pregnant?

Although it is not recommended that a pregnant woman move heavy furniture, lifting lighter objects or even carrying a toddler or young child should not cause concern. “If you are having an uncomplicated pregnancy without bleeding or complications that classify your pregnancy as high risk, then lift within reason,” recommends OB/GYN Shahin Ghadir, an endocrinologist and infertility physician with Southern California Reproductive Center. But if you are experiencing complications with your pregnancy, Ghadir advises consulting with your physician before attempting to carry or lift heavy objects.
