How Much Sleep Should Pregnant Women Get?

Pregnant women do not necessarily need different amounts of sleep than the usual recommended six to eight hours per night, says Dr. Codi Wiener, OB/GYN at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women in Houston. However sleep at night can be restless because of the baby kicking and trips to empty your bladder, says Wiener. So you may need to listen to your body and take naps during the day. “You may never feel energized after sleeping, but this will get better at some point after the baby starts sleeping through the night,” she says.
