Do Prenatal Vitamins Cause Morning Sickness?

Although nausea and vomiting are common during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, morning sickness does not stem from prenatal vitamins, states Houston-based OB-GYN Pamela Berens of the University of Texas Medical School. "Since mothers start taking prenatal vitamins around this time, they may misattribute the nausea to the vitamin," Berens says. In reality, the nausea can be attributed to stress related to pregnancy and hormonal changes, she notes.
