A woman can eat organic food while pregnant, notes OB-GYN Pamela Berens, based in Houston with the University of Texas Medical School. The recommendations for organic foods would be similar to other foods for pregnant women. In addition to other foods, "Pregnant women should avoid unpasteurized cheeses as they can carry an infection that can be harmful to the unborn baby. This can be true for lunch meats as well, and therefore cooking lunch meats is recommended," Berens says. Just because something is organic, does not automatically make it safe for a pregnant woman.
