Our mothers have taught us so much — not the least of which is how to be a great mom ourselves. One area where their knowledge may be outdated, though, is in how to best care for your skin. Mom.me spoke to Karen Asquith, the national director of education for G.M. Collin Skin Care in Montreal, and Robin White, the spokesperson for the Philosophy brand. Both filled us in on the most effective skincare products that may have seemed like science fiction 25 years ago.
As Asquith says, "Many women tell me, 'My mother or grandmother only used soap and water to care for their skin, and it looked beautiful.' However, that was back when we had an intact ozone layer, they weren't eating hormone-injected beef, and they likely got more daily exercise in less-polluted air!"
Check out our experts' tips — and be sure to share your new knowledge with your mom.
