As a mom, I pay attention to just about everything that touches my child—inside and out. Organic food, PBA-free everything, non-toxic, plant-based, hormone-free: the list goes on and on. A child’s environment and health is of the utmost priority and we always want to surround our children with the best of the best.
But when it comes to myself, I admit, I’m not always on top of my well-being. Most days, I’m eating leftover chicken nuggets, cold pizza or Sriracha chips (the best, by the way!). When it comes to beauty though, I am all for investing in products that are not just effective but also good for me.
Luckily for us, the organic mentality has also reached beauty products but, unfortunately for most, a lot come with a hefty price tag. I’m a true believer of "good for you doesn’t necessarily have to mean expensive," so I’ve rounded up some of the best products under $50 that have found permanent spots in my beauty cabinet! And better yet? You can find most of these products at local department stores or drug stores.
Facial Cleansing Towelettes: These are so handy on those nights when you’re just too lazy to remove all your makeup. I also love it as a pre-cleanser, and I would feel comfortable using it on my toddler if I needed to clean him off.
Almond & Milk Hand Cream: Keeping your hands hydrated is so important since they give away your age. I think this will be my secret weapon to keep my hands ageless. It is soft, creamy and smells so yummy! The best part is that it comes in a little pot, which travels well.
Korres Pomegranate Toner: I’ve grown to be a big fan of the brand Korres the last year. They have a great balance of high-end and affordable products across its product lines, and even better, they are up front about the level of natural ingredients on all their labels. My favorite is the pomegranate toner. Made from 98.8 percent natural ingredients like pomegranate water and oils, it leaves my face feeling extra clean with its matte finish. It also smells nice, too!
Caudalie Grape Water: Directly extracted from grapes in Bordeaux, this little can of grape water is my BFF. I carry it in my purse and mist myself several times a day to refresh my face. It leaves my skin hydrated and dewy, and the cool mist is a fresh afternoon pick-me-up. My skin is not usually sensitive but the 100 percent organic ingredients are said to be great for those who do.
Origins Active Charcoal Mask: I feel like charcoal is having a moment. A detoxing ingredient, this stuff draws out all the toxins and dirt out of your pores. Serious magic!
Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial: I recently discovered Ren skincare products and have been beyond impressed. This treatment mask with a potent level of vitamin C does wonders to revive my skin. My skin looks like I just had a facial and its citrus smell reminds me of the spa. Win-win!
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum: I am all about rejuvenating skin, lessening the signs of aging and undoing far too many hours lounging in the sun. A serum with antioxidants has become a daily ritual.
Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47: This brand is one of my go-tos for natural products and this moisturizer is probably the best of the bunch. Argan oil provides intense moisturizing power and a high SPF is great for all those outdoor playdates.
Now, the truth is, no product is completely natural or chemical free but by carefully selecting products and continuing to be mindful of what you put in and on your body, you can start living beautifully—naturally, of course.
