Serge B.'s LEGO® DUPLO® Review

My two children, Henry (age 2 ½) and Violet (age 4 ½) have never owned a LEGO® DUPLO® set before now. We had friends who brought some over before and the kids were hooked. I especially love our new LEGO® DUPLO® Jake's Pirate Ship Bucky set (Item # 10514) because it comes in large pieces. I am always concerned about my kids putting small pieces in their mouth, but I’m not concerned with these DUPLO bricks. I also really like that two or three kids can easily play together.

My son and daughter were thrilled with the fact that the DUPLO set is based on Jake and the Neverland Pirates, one of their favorite cartoons. They truly enjoy the hands-on active play that comes along with the whole DUPLO tradition. Too many toys are now less physical, and that’s not a good thing in my book. Both of my kids love the fact that they can pour the whole set of DUPLO bricks out on the kitchen island, and within a few seconds, they are building something fun and different.

They interact tremendously with the toy since they are both constantly trying to impress the other with their latest creation or idea! I honestly think that these DUPLO bricks encourage my kids to think about where and why the pieces go together. I also see the kids watching each other quite a bit as well. I find this very impressive because I see that as a sign that they are exercising their patience and learning from one another.
