Toddler Talk: Starry Night

This is one of those no-fail art projects that easily adapts to whatever level your child is at.

Materials needed:

White card stock or construction paper

Oil pastels

Optional: black construction paper

Using the oil pastels, have your child create stars in the sky with yellow. Show your child how to make swirling lines and dash lines. Use blue, purple, pink and white to make swirling in the night sky.

If your child is at the scribbling stage, no worries! It will look great as scribbles.

Then, paint a wash of blue and purple watercolor over the entire paper.

After that, cut out a variety of shapes and sizes of rectangles out of black construction paper. Let your child arrange a skyline. Glue down.

Enjoy your child’s little Van Gogh inspired art!
