Christine H.'s LEGO® DUPLO® Review

"I really was happy to give my children the opportunity to be creative with the LEGO® DUPLO® bricks. My four-year-old daughter, Ainsleigh, tends to be very linear in her thinking. We initially walked through the directions and step-by-step put the LEGO® DUPLO® Ariel’s Undersea Castle (Item # 10515) set together. She was so happy until her little brother crashed into it with his various car creations. She was so upset until I told her she could rebuild it or make her own creation. This really brought out her creative side, and playing with DUPLO bricks really gave her the opportunity to think outside of the box and create her own set up. She eventually started borrowing some bricks from her brother’s LEGO® DUPLO® Creative Cars set (Item # 10552) and they wound up creating something together. It was great to see them play together and find compromise in their creations.

"My two-year-old son loves anything with wheels so the fact that he could create any kind of car/truck that he wanted immediately won him over. The bricks were also a good size for his little hands so he loved that they were easier to use than traditional small LEGO bricks.

"My daughter loved all the Ariel accessories, since she is very much into the Little Mermaid story. This set allowed her to create the story of Ariel and her friends and make it her own.

"DUPLO products really allow my kids to let their creative side come out. As an educator, I really appreciate toys that let them be creative, and learn critical skills at the same time. With our four-year-old daughter, we practiced counting and shapes, which are vital early math skills for her as she is about to enter Kindergarten. For my two year old we talked a lot about colors and shapes, which for his age is so important. He loved being able to drive the cars around, crash them and recreate a new car. The sound effects he was making were hilarious."
