Toddler Talk: DIY Glittery Sneakers

Both of my girls seem to wear out their shoes so quickly. I guess this is good, because it means they are on the go all the time, but it leaves a bit of a dent in my wallet. I've done a few shoe DIYs and re-vamps over the past couple years, but these glittery sneakers are my favorite! And the best thing is, you don't even need NEW shoes. Instead, decorate a pair of older shoes that need a pretty, glittery facelift.

For this project, you need:

Canvas sneakers, old or new

Fine glitter (I used gold for my alma mater!)

Mod Podge

A paint brush

Painter's tape

A small bowl

First, in a small bowl mix 2 parts of Mod Podge with 1 part glitter.

Next, carefully tape off the rubber soles of each shoe. If there is any other part of the shoe you don't want covered in glitter, cover it with tape as well.

Using a paint brush, paint on the glitter/Mod Podge mixture. Make sure to get a nice, thick layer, covering every part of the shoe.

Let it dry for about 10-15 minutes, then coat it with a second layer. Continue this process until the shoes are completely glittered and you can't see any part of the canvas background. (I did 3 layers total.)

Let the shoes dry for 24 hours, then carefully remove the painter's tape. The glittery sneakers will be BEAUTIFUL and ready to wear!

I'm definitely going to make more of these, maybe even a pair for myself!
