Toddler Talk: Great Autumn Books

In our family, we try to live seasonally. This means that we really try to soak up each season of the year—doing seasonal activities, eating seasonal foods, making seasonal crafts and even reading seasonal books. Living by the seasons allows us to explore the earth around us, appreciate the coming and going of old and new life, and live in a way that enriches us. Now that autumn is in full swing, we have broken out our favorite autumn books. Here are some great reads for toddlers this season:

1. Leaf Man, by Lois Elhert: Leaf Man is on the move in this beautiful book about the changing season.

2. Over in the Meadow, by Ezra Jack Keats: A singsongy tale about the wonder of nature.

3. Seasons, by Blexbolex: A beautiful picture book featuring the changing seasons of the year.

4. Fall Ball, by Peter McCarty: A sweet ode to football season and all things fall.

5. Bear Says Thanks, by Karma WIlson: Bear thanks his friends by throwing a big feast.

6. The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, by Linda Williams: A sweet Halloween tale about overcoming fears and being brave.

7. House Held Up By Trees, by Ted Kooser: An award-winning story about the history of trees and all the memories they hold.

8. Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf, by Lois Elhert: An exploratory book, featuring bits and pieces of fall's little souvenirs.

9. Woody, Hazel, and Little Pip, by Elsa Beskow: A tale about two acorn children who get blown away by the autumn wind.

10. How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin?, by Margaret McNamara: An interactive counting book about a pumpkin experiment.
